Joyce boots protect the screw from dust and dirt, help maintain proper lubrication, and
guard against moisture and corrosive contaminants. They are fabricated of neoprene-coated
nylon.
Other materials are available for applications involving temperatures below -40°F and above
500°F, highly corrosive atmospheres and other special conditions.

NOTE: Adding a protective boot increases closed height. The closed height of Type
4 Upright Jacks remains the same up to a maximum travel given in the chart below.
NOTE: Up to 24" travel, standard boots are sold in 3" increments.
* Closed height given must be be increased 5/64" for each 1" of travel.
** Type 4 closed height must be increased 5/64" for each additional 1" of travel over
maximum travel given.
